Answers to Your Most Common Dental Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you offer dental care for children?

Yes. We provide comprehensive dental care for the whole family, including children. Our gentle and caring approach helps kids feel comfortable during their visits, setting them up for a lifetime of healthy smiles.

  • What is your in-office insurance plan, and how does it work?

Our In-Office Insurance Plan is a cost-effective option for patients without dental insurance. For $350 annually ($300 for patients 12 and under), you’ll receive:

    • Two cleanings
    • Two exams by Dr. Messih
    • One set of cavity-detecting bitewing X-rays
    • 20% off additional dental treatments

This plan provides a yearly savings of $429.10, plus discounts on any additional care. Payment must be made in full before the first cleaning, and both cleanings must be used within a year. Note: This plan doesn’t cover periodontal treatment and cannot be combined with other offers.

  • Do you have options for patients without insurance?

Yes, we offer an in-office membership plan designed to make quality dental care accessible and affordable for patients without insurance. Our membership includes routine cleanings, exams, and discounts on additional treatments for a low annual fee.

  • What should I do if I have bad breath?

Bad breath, also known as halitosis, can result from poor oral hygiene, certain foods, or underlying health issues. Regular brushing, flossing, and tongue cleaning can help, along with routine dental checkups to identify any underlying causes. If the problem persists, our team can evaluate your oral health and recommend solutions tailored to you.

  • How often should I brush and floss?

You should brush your teeth at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and floss once daily to remove plaque and food particles between teeth. Proper brushing and flossing help prevent cavities, gum disease, and bad breath while maintaining a healthy smile.

  • Are amalgam (silver) fillings safe?

Yes, amalgam fillings have been used for decades and are considered safe by the American Dental Association (ADA). However, if you prefer tooth-colored fillings for a more natural appearance, we offer durable composite resin options.

  • How often should I have a dental exam and cleaning?

It’s recommended to have a dental exam and cleaning every six months. These routine visits allow us to prevent and address potential issues early while keeping your teeth and gums healthy.

  • How can cosmetic dentistry help improve the appearance of my smile?

Cosmetic dentistry includes treatments like teeth whitening, veneers, and bonding to enhance your smile's appearance. Whether you’re looking to brighten your teeth, fix imperfections, or achieve a more symmetrical smile, we can customize a plan for your needs.

  • What can I do about stained or discolored teeth?

Professional teeth whitening is a safe and effective way to remove stains and brighten your smile. We also offer other cosmetic treatments, like veneers, for deeper discoloration or to achieve long-lasting results.

  • What are my options if I have missing teeth?

We offer several tooth replacement options, including dental implants, bridges, and dentures. During your consultation, we’ll recommend the best solution to restore your smile’s function, health, and appearance.

  • What can be done about old, unattractive, or discolored fillings?

Old or discolored fillings can be replaced with tooth-colored composite resin to match the natural shade of your teeth. This improves the appearance of your smile while maintaining the strength and functionality of the filling.

  • Why straighten teeth?

Straightening your teeth not only improves the appearance of your smile but also enhances oral health by making it easier to clean between teeth. Additionally, it can help address issues like bite alignment, which reduces the risk of wear and jaw discomfort over time.
